Oracle Jinitiator 1.1 8.2 For Mac

Brought a couple new PCs up recently and ran into the subject nasty error when attempting to access EBS. We’ve run into this before and we usually get it worked out one way or another. This time proved to be a bit challenging for some reason… Thought I would post the solution that we used and seems to work consistently. I’ve found other posts out there as well that reference some combination of these steps. For now, this will be my reference moving forward.

• Uninstall all existing Java installations on machine
• Uninstall all existing J2SE Runtime Environment installations on machine
• Install JRE 6u45
• Search for Java; clicking the link will open the Java Control Panel
• Click “View…”
• Enter this line: -Djava.vendor=”Sun Microsystems Inc.”
• Click OK
• Open IE and go to Oracle EBS and invoke a form to come up
• It will ask to install J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 13
• Restart the machine
• Open IE and you should now be able to open Oracle EBS

This has been tested on x64 flavors of Win7 and Win8 using the x64 installer for JRE.

Note: Disable the automatic updater within the Java Control Panel after all the steps listed above

Overview

FRM-92095: Oracle-Jinitiator version too low. Please install version 1.1.8.2 or higher.

Oracle Jnitiator also used the vendor string 'Oracle Corporation'. So - Forms now thinks it is running on an old jnitiator instead of the latest java 1.7 plugin. I used a bootstrapper applet which sets the vendor property back to 'Sun Microsystems inc' like this.

Opening Oracle Forms (Smart Center, e.Notify) in any browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer) on Windows produces an error indicating that the Jinitiator version is too low.

Cause:

Java 7 is installed. As of Java 7 Update 6, Oracle made an internal change in the Java plugin that causes Oracle Forms (Banner) to not recognize that Java is correctly installed.

Fix:

Determine if your computer is x64 or x86 processor type.

Right click My Computer and go to Properties to access the System Properties.

Right click My Computer and go to Properties. Click on System Properties to access the System Properties menu.

Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Java (or search for Java in the upper right box labeled Search Control Panel).

Open Start Menu and paste this: 'C:Program Files (x86)Javajre7binjavacpl.exe' into the box labeled 'Search programs and files.' Press enter. Do NOT use the method above to open the Java Control Panel on 64-bit Windows. It will open the wrong version of the Java plugin. If this does not come up automatically in the search you can manually browse to it.
